FAQ's
(Frequently Asked Questions)

What makes me different from other local wedding officiants?
Why should someone hire me?

I'm a very "down-to-earth" type Minister. I'm easy to get along with. I enjoy making my couples happy. This is something I do because I have felt this calling for quite some time.

Having a wedding minister confirmed to do your ceremony who is responsible and fun will take a load off of your mind.

How far are you willing to travel?
Is there a travel fee?

I cover most of Linn, Lane and Benton counties. If you live over 25 miles from my home in Halsey, Oregon, there is a 50 cent per mile charge for mileage over 25 miles (round trip) to cover my travel expenses. (Example for 35 miles: 10 miles additional * 2 = 20 miles, $10.00 for travel expense).

What kind of pre-wedding counseling is required, if any?

None is required. I'm not a counselor. There are professionals available to do that, if you feel it is important. I am willing to offer advice based on my personal experience.

How long does the ceremony usually last?

It all depends on how elaborate you want the ceremony to be. It can be as short as 5 minutes — or it can take as long as it takes. Many things go into the ceremony. It's all about giving you, the couple, the ceremony you want. If, in addition to the vows, you plan to recite poems or music the ceremony will last longer. It's all up to you.

How long after the ceremony do you file for the official marriage license?

The required documents are placed in the mail the next business day. Or, if you prefer, you can take them yourself to the county courthouse the following business day, have it filed, and immediately obtain a registrar's copy of the official marriage license.
